Customer Reviews
No audio from HDMI?!?!?! Are you kidding me?!?!?!?! No on screen setup?!?! The HDMI inputs to this thing can't convert audio. Unbelievable. That means you have to have a seperate audio connection for each HDMI input. If you buy ANY Denon model better than this one, it will do it. And the kicker, the really messed up thing? Well, there are only TWO optical audio inputs... for the THREE HDMI inputs! That doesn't make any sense. If the receiver can't process the audio from the HDMI inputs, you should have THREE optical inputs (one for each HDMI input). Sure, there are some coax audio inputs, but who uses coax?!?! This thing is getting returned ASAP. I'm going with the next model up, the AVR-789, which does process audio from the HDMI inputs and also has on-screen menu/setup (the AVR-1709 does not).
